How to Stay Cool in Summer with Columbia’s Cool Tech Clothing

Thank you Columbia for sponsoring this story about how to stay cool in summer with cool clothing technologies. While this is a sponsored opportunity from Columbia, all content and opinions about Columbia clothing expressed here are my own.

When you live in the hottest state in the U.S., you need to do everything you can to stay cool in summer. Here in Phoenix, Arizona we experience about 110 days each year when temps reach over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. I recently discovered Columbia clothing that uses special cooling technologies. My family tested it out on a particularly hot day at the Phoenix Zoo. Think it worked? Read on to find out!

How Columbia's Omni-Freeze ZERO Cooling Technology Works

Columbia's Omni-Freeze ZERO apparel uses special technology to help your family stay cool in summer weather. It is sewn with thousands of tiny blue rings that absorb moisture and concentrate a cooling agent close to your skin. Sweat or water activates the cooling process, drawing heat away from your body and lowering the temperature of the garment. Watch the video below to gain a better understanding of this technology.

Keeping Cool in a Columbia Dress

Think Columbia is strictly workout gear? Think again! My PFG Freezer III dress is not only comfy but also super cute for a day out exploring. It utilizes Omni-Freeze Cooling and Wicking Fabric to help moms like me feel great while playing with their kids (or goats!). What's more, this dress offers 50 UPF sun protection, which is so important for good health whenever spending time in the sunshine. The verdict: it really did help me stay cool in summer, even in the Arizona heat!

Cool Columbia Clothing for Boys

My 10-year-old son's PFG Trollers Best Short Sleeve Shirt kept him cool during our toasty day at the Phoenix Zoo. This shirt is made of 100 percent cotton and features a hidden back vent to keep air flowing through it.

Fashionable Columbia Clothing for Girls

With school starting soon, my 13-year-old daughter is eager to stock up on fashionable clothes to wear. Her Columbia clothing pick was this hip Girls' Super Bonehead Dress. The loose fit and 100 percent cotton fabric make this dress a cool and stylish option. I just wish I could buy one in my size!

Omni-Freeze for Active Men

All the men in my life all love technology. What better gift for a tech-loving dude than clothing you want to see him wear, but that also comes equipped with cooling technology? I loved the Columbia Men's PFG Zero Rules II Polo so much on my husband that I bought a second shirt for my dad as a belated Father's Day gift. This polo works well for a day of golf, hiking or site-seeing. Choose an Omni-Freeze shirt in a collared polo style, workout t-shirt, hiking shirt and more.

Isn’t that shirt adorable?! I wanted him to save it to wear for the first week of school, but the minute it’s clean, he puts it right back on! 🙂

  7. I never heard of this technology, but I like the sound and look of it. I notice it more and more now that the technical wear as I call it is starting to look more and more like just ‘regular’ clothes, so you can look nice while at the same time having all the advantages of the special materials that are used. Will definitely look into these clothes.

    • Colleen Lanin, The Travel Mama says

It seems a lot of people wear athletic wear for casual outings nowadays but I love that Columbia makes some options that don’t look like you’re headed to the gym!

  8. Dana Vento says

These look like great clothes. We travel a lot, and that means we’re outside a lot in the hot summer. I think these would help keep us nice and cool while we explore.

    • Colleen Lanin, The Travel Mama says

Such a life changer when traveling to hot places! I just wish I had Columbia’s cool technology clothing when my family visited Rome in the sweltering summer a few years ago!

  9. I need these in my life! My entire family could use these cool technology clothes. We live in Georgia, so it gets super hot AND humid. This would help for wading through the bog that is Georgia air.

    • Colleen Lanin, The Travel Mama says

I hope you love Columbia’s cool technologies clothing! It really is incredible how it keeps you cool when you’re out exploring!

  10. robin rue says

We have lots of Columbia clothing in our family! It’s a great brand, that I definitely trust, so I will check out the cool technology for sure.

  11. Jody Robbins says

This is so much cheaper than MEC! How is that possible? It’s seriously half the price of what I pay for leggings and jackets for my kid. Gah! So much for being CND loyal. Converting….

    • Colleen Lanin, The Travel Mama says

Yay! So happy to convert you to Columbia’s clothing! There really are so many great options for working out and playing for all ages.
