Find paradise at Casa Velas, one of the best adults-only, all-inclusive resorts in Puerto Vallarta. The beautiful grounds, tranquil pools, tasty food, and friendly service are ideal for a romantic getaway or a chill trip with friends. This luxury hotel provides a haven for vacationers seeking an escape, but it’s just minutes away from the action of the city’s rockin’ nightclubs. Plus, guests get full privileges at nearby Velas Vallarta, its much larger and livelier partner property. Join me and my sister on our Mexican getaway to learn all you need to know about a Casa Velas Resort vacation!

Pool and Beach Options

Pooltime and beach play are required for a fabulous Puerto Vallarta vacation if you ask me. Thankfully, Casa Velas guests have lots of splashy options. Spend time poolside on site, or take a quick complimentary shuttle to the adult-only Táu Beach Club or the family-friendly Velas Vallarta. Although Casa Velas is not a beachfront property, these two nearby options make visiting beautiful beaches easy to do.

Casa Velas Main Pool

Unwind at the main swimming pool at Casa Velas surrounded by palm trees and other lush tropical landscpe. Chill out on a submerged lounger in the water. Then, paddle over to the swim-up bar to order an included cocktail or mocktail. This watery retreat is heated by solar energy year-round. Cabanas and cushy lounge chairs are free for guests and available first-come, first-served. This pool area is so incredible, it made my list of the best hotel pools for adults!

Private Plunge Pools

For a more secluded experience, book a suite at Casa Velas with a private plunge pool. After a day of exploring downtown Puerto Vallarta, we found this to be a convenient way to cool down before dinner.

Táu Beach Club

Velas Resorts owns Táu Beach Club, which offers an upscale beach day for adults at Las Ánimas Beach but no overnight accommodations. A chic infinity pool, Bali beds, Jacuzzi, pool concierge services, and beach volleyball courts add to the experience. Showers and lockers are available, too.

This luxury is included for those staying at Casa Velas. Meanwhile, day passes can be purchased by Velas Vallarta guests and others aged 18+. Visitors may book water sports like kayaking or paddle boarding for additional fees.

Velas Vallarta Pools

Casa Velas guests can choose from two all-ages pools at Velas Vallarta. These are connected by a water path (basically, a lazy river without a current).

For an exuberant atmosphere, head to the massive main pool for music, organized games, and a swim-up bar. A somewhat smaller pool is quieter and features a cascading waterfall.

Las Caletas Beach

The stretch of soft sand at Velas Vallarta’s private Las Caletas Beach lures landlocked folks like my sister and me to its shores. Enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding Sierra Madre Mountains and the Puerto Vallarta cityscape across Banderas Bay from here. Relax in a lounger or enjoy free water activities like snorkeling, paddle boarding, and kayaking. Pay for extras like deep-sea fishing, scuba diving, or jet skiing.

Spa Services

Casa Velas is home to ABJA Spa & Salon, offering massages, facials, reflexology, and other treatments. Included with the cost of treatment, the spa’s hydrotherapy circuit features a sauna, pressure shower, eucalyptus-infused steam room, and hot tub overlooking gardens.

Velas Vallarta has its own spa with a sauna and three treatment rooms, plus a salon for hair and nail services. But the real reason to book a treatment at this partner property is for a beachfront massage in a spa cabana! My sister and I were delighted to indulge in a side-by-side “couples” massage. Listening to ocean waves while enjoying a massage takes pampering to a whole new level and was a first (but not last!) for both of us.

Fitness Center & Classes

The fitness center is part of the 6,500-square-foot ABJA Spa at Casa Velas. Did my sister and I make use of this space during our stay? We sure did! If you come outside spa hours (like we did), enter downstairs instead.

Work off those tacos and huevos rancheros with state-of-the-art exercise equipment like ellipticals, treadmills, weight machines, and free weights while taking in dreamy resort views. Healthy snacks and filtered waters are available at no additional cost. You can also stay fit during your vacation with yoga, aqua aerobics, and Pilates classes.

Marina Vallarta Golf Club

For additional charges, golfers can get their swing on at Marina Vallarta Golf Club. Located at Casa Velas Resort, the 18-hole golf course is open to Velas guests, members, and other golf enthusiasts aged 18+. The course receives praise in TripAdvisor reviews for its lush greenery, views of the Pacific Coast, and variety of challenging holes. Golf packages are available.

Tropical Landscape & Koi Ponds

Expect lush grounds filled with palm trees, brilliant bougainvillea, and abundant greenery. My sister, Karen, said, “I enjoyed the tranquility and ease of the resort. It shifted me into a peaceful mode just strolling around the property. The meticulous landscaping was the cherry on top of a relaxing afternoon at the pool.”

Also, both Casa Velas and Velas Vallarta feature ponds filled with vibrant koi fish. Guests are welcome to feed the fish, but only special food. Simply ask hotel staff in the lobby for fish food if none is available by the koi ponds.

Resident Peacocks

When visiting Velas Vallarta, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for peacocks. A male peacock named Pancho and his peahen wife, Matilda, freely roam the resort grounds. Hotel staff told us the couple had just welcomed four baby peachicks to their family, too!

Special Activities & Holiday Events

While Casa Velas is where to go to escape it all, Velas Vallarta is where the action is. Casa Velas guests may get in on the fun by attending casino nights, magic shows, movie nights, and crafting sessions.

Expect something special at Velas Vallarta for holiday stays, from Cinco de Mayo to Easter, with themed foods, festive decorations, parties with live music, and more. Santa even parachutes in for Christmas! My sister and I stayed at Casa Velas over Halloween and Day of the Dead, when we enjoyed fall cocktails, a calaveras (skulls) crafting session, and a guided tour of the resort’s Día de los Muertos Catrinas (decorated skeletons, each with its own story).

Dining & Drinks

Casa Velas offers a fine dining restaurant, poolside casual lunch, and 24-hour room service. Onsite gardens grow fresh produce and herbs for the hotel’s on-site restaurants, such as basil, mint, cilantro, tomatoes, peppers, and citrus fruits. Plus, mini bar snacks like chips, candies, sodas, and bottled water are replenished daily. Also included for guests of this luxury resort are meals and drinks at Velas Vallarta and Táu Beach Club.

Emiliano Restaurant

The elegant atmosphere of the dining room at Emiliano Restaurant will make you want to linger. Be sure to look up to appreciate the unique chandelier decorated with jungle animals like parrots, cheetahs, and monkeys. This restaurant at Casa Velas offers diverse dining options with great food throughout the day.

We chose to eat outdoors with views of the koi pond and pool for breakfast each morning. Order American standards like eggs benedict or Mexican options, like my favorite, chilaquiles with red or green sauce. Wash your meal down with fresh-squeezed juice from the juice bar or a cappuccino. (Why not get both? It is all-included, after all!)

Expect light fare for lunch, like salads, soups, and seafood. Order a multicourse dinner starting with an appetizer, then salad, followed by a heartier option like ribeye or rack of lamb, if you so choose. Be sure to save room for dessert (tiramisu, anyone?) or at least a flaming Mexican coffee elegantly prepared tableside.

You know how the liquors and wine at some all-inclusive resorts are sub-par? Not so at Casa Velas! Even premium wines are included, like Louis Perdrier Sparkling Wine from France. Of course, you can upgrade for an additional charge to luxury or super-luxury wines like Cristal Champagne if you are celebrating!

Aquabar

Choose convenient poolside dining at Casa Velas delivered right to your lounger. Think burgers, burritos, and tacos. Consider a creative cocktail, too, like a Blue Peacock made with Malibu rum, coconut cream, blue curaçao, and pineapple juice.

Táu Beach Club Dining

Dining on the beach at Tau Beach Club as the sunset over the Pacific Ocean is a special experience I will long remember. An added perk of staying at Casa Velas is complimentary dining at this nearby club.

Upon arrival, ring the bell at Táu Beach Club for a surprising delivery of a welcome cocktail. In addition to poolside casual lunches, reserve a table right on the sand for a romantic dinner or festive evening with friends.

Velas Vallarta Restaurants

Casa Velas guests may also enjoy included dining at Velas Vallarta. Choose from Andrea Restaurant, La Ribera Restaurant, and casual poolside options. There is a Mexican Fiesta every Sunday evening, too. Similar to Táu Beach Club, Velas Vallarta offers private dining on the beach with incredible views of downtown Puerto Vallarta across Bandera Bay that can’t be beat.

Suites

Casa Velas offers a range of suites for adult vacationers. This boutique-style resort has fewer rooms (80) than the larger, family-friendly resort, Velas Vallarta (345).

My sister and I shared a Grand Class Plus Suite, which comes with a small plunge pool and living room area separated from the bedroom by a few stairs (but no door). As sisters, we didn’t mind sharing a king-sized bed, but the more affordable Grand Class Suite offers an option for two double beds (although less space and no private pool).

Whether you’re traveling with your partner, your sister, or a big group of friends — there’s a suite to meet your needs. The most affordable option is the 463-square-foot Master Suite with a living area, bedroom, marble bathroom, and small garden. On the other end of the spectrum, groups can book the Presidential Suite with a whopping 5,564 square feet of space spread across four bedrooms, a living room, a dining room, a large plunge pool, and more.

Take a look at more room configurations and book your Casa Velas stay directly now or read more reviews on Booking.com.
