In-Person Escape Rooms

Whether playing with friends, family members, or coworkers — escape rooms provide a great way to bond with others while using your brain power. Teamwork makes solving the riddles easier and more interesting, too.

In-person games are recommended for ages 13+, but all ages can be accommodated. My family experienced our first escape room when my son was 11 years old, and we all had a blast.

Escape Room Safety

The Escape Game goes above and beyond to ensure the health and safety of its guests. To start, they offer contactless check-in. Then, team members currently wear face coverings and remain 6+ feet away from guests at all times.

All games are private, so you don’t have to worry about playing with strangers, either. Plus, game spaces are thoroughly sanitized between groups.

Escape from Iron Gate Board Game

If your family likes escape rooms, then you’ll love the Escape from Iron Gate board game. My family adores board games, and this has made an entertaining addition to our collection. It’s like a blend of Monopoly, Charades, Clue, and Pictionary.

Based on The Escape Game’s “Prison Break” escape room, players must find their way to freedom by acting, drawing, and sleuthing. This game can be played again and again, with a different outcome each time.

Escape from Iron Gate is for three to eight players and should take about an hour to complete. The box recommends this game for age 13+, but you could probably play with kids as young as 10 or 11, depending on their board game experience level.

  6. The Escape Game just looks like so much fun, I can’t believe I have never done this before. I would think that the best option would be to do this in person at one of their locations, but it is so cool that they have an online option as well during this pandemic time. The board game Escape from Iron Gate looks to be a great same-room experience while at home also.

  7. I have never been to an Escape room. There are a few here in Phoenix. But my friends and I played an at home escape room in a box. It was pretty cool. It took place on an island.

  8. Our whole family loves escape rooms and we miss them so much. I’m going to see if any are open yet in our area.

    1. It definitely helps to have more than one set of eyes to solve these puzzles. If I got lost or confused, one of my kids or my husband was able to crack the code. Glad you had fun playing The Escape Game with your roommate!

  10. These are great. We have yet to visit an in store escape room. I never thought about doing them at home. This perfect for my kiddos. We are all struggling to find fun and new ideas to do at home. I appreciate this.

  12. First tried an escape room in Thailand. This online option looks fun & fit for these social distancing times–especially since my friends and I have grown tired of online Pictionary and Jeopardy.

    1. Ooh! I’ll need to look into online Pictionary and Jeopardy! I love having new ideas to keep us content and connected while social distancing!
