Brave Toro Verde Ziplines & Adventures in Puerto Rico

Home to several exciting ziplines, Toro Verde Ecological Adventure Park is a must-do day trip for thrill-seeking families visiting Puerto Rico. Toro Verde (“green bull”) is an ecological adventure park that offers some of the most breathtaking views of Puerto Rico’s mountainous jungle. Location

Just 90 minutes outside of San Juan in Puerto Rico’s Central Mountain Range lies Orocovis. Known as “El Pueblo Corazón,” the town with heart, it is home to Toro Verde Ecological Adventure Park. Because Toro Verde’s experiences depend on the weather, be sure to check the forecast before heading out.

The green bull outside Toro Verde Eco Adventure Park represents strength, courage, and power. As first-time zipliners, these were all things my tween son and I definitely needed!

Ziplining for Beginners

My pre-teen and I tackled Toro Verde’s eight-line ziplining course. This involved some uphill hiking along rustic paths cut through dense jungle. The ziplines got harder as we went along, but the views alone were worth it. We even came close to being eye-to-eye with red-tailed hawks, or guaraguaos, as we soared right alongside them.

Keep in mind that the heavier the zipliner, the faster they will go. Lighter children who zip the lines more slowly can count on the guides to provide assistance where needed.

Toro Verde’s guides were very patient with my first-timer, especially since he was very nervous in the beginning. Thankfully, by the second zipline, he was a lot more confident and excited to keep going.

Before setting off on our first zipline, knowledgeable guides explained the zip-lining process and covered all aspects of safety. They demonstrated how to control the harness and gave advice on hand and body placement to avoid injury.

Zip Headfirst with the Beast

Teen and adult thrillseekers will want to brave La Bestia, The Beast. One of the world’s longest ziplines, The Beast is 4,745 feet long, 843 feet high, and whizzes you along at speeds reaching 60 miles per hour. Plus, you fly over the jungle head first in a special harness created just for the park.

Take on The Monster

If that’s not enough adrenaline for you, take on the Monster. Previously certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s longest zipline, it’s over 1.5 miles long. That’s equivalent to 28 football fields! The Monster’s name is fitting since it sends zippers screaming through the air, face-first at up to 95 miles per hour!

Bull Maze Ropes Course

If you want even more adventure, consider adding a ropes course to your day. Bull Maze (for ages 8+) features suspension bridges, rope nets, monkey bars, and various obstacles distributed among the three levels of the 42-foot-tall structure.

Wild Bull Adventure

The truly adventurous will appreciate Wild Bull Adventure. It features five suspension bridges and the Jump of the Coqui, where daredevils rappel 230 feet into the rainforest below.

Restaurante Toro Verde

After all of that zip-lining, ropes course climbing, and rappelling, you will have built up a big appetite. Good thing Toro Verde’s on-site restaurant offers a gastronomic adventure, too. This is definitely not your typical theme park food.

All menu offerings are made from scratch, without any artificial preservatives. Fruits and vegetables are grown on-site and showcased in their soups, salads, and traditional Puerto Rican dishes. Plus, food allergies are easily accommodated, so you can dine without worry after a day of heart-pumping thrills.

At Restaurante Toro Verde, I was treated to the prettiest mofongo ever. This traditional Puerto Rican dish features fried plantains mashed with garlic and oil in a wooden pilón, also known as mortar and pestle. This one boasts delicious churrasco steak as well.

Toro Verde Adventure Park Tips

Height and weight requirements are strictly enforced, and closed-toe shoes are mandatory at Toro Verde Adventure Park. I recommend wearing long-sleeved shirts and pants (or long shorts). You will be hiking in your harness and gear and want to avoid unwanted friction. While it might be a hot day, remember that it will get chilly while zip-lining.

It’s best to reserve your Toro Verde adventure in advance to make sure your choices are available. Don’t overthink it. Just take the leap and enjoy the ride!
