About Bryan Richards, The Hungry Travel Daddy

Bryan M. Richards began his blog, TheWanderingGourmand.com, to document his culinary adventures with his wife around the world (and around the kitchen). During the first eight years of their marriage, they followed their taste buds across five continents, 20 countries, and 71 cities and drank plenty of beer along the way. Then Deacon was born, and they’re learning how to incorporate their son into their culinary adventures. Currently, Bryan balances his role as stay-at-home dad to his young son with his novel writing and freelance gigs covering craft beer, food, and travel. He lives in Charlotte, North Carolina. Follow his adventures on Facebook and Instagram as @BRichWrites.

15 Backyard Barbecue Party Ideas to Impress Your Guests Without Stress

As a self-proclaimed grill master, summer is one of my favorite times of the year. It means I get to roll out my grill and use it pretty much every night of the week. But, as much as I enjoy grilling up a few juicy ribeyes for my family, it’s even more fun to invite friends […]

10 Traveling with Baby Tips from a Dad Who Loves to Travel

It’s a common myth that traveling with babies is impossible. In fact, this falsehood is one of the main reasons my wife and I waited nine years before finally starting a family. We were afraid kids would end our travel lifestyle. Now that I’m a dad, though, I know that traveling with a baby is […]

5 Reasons to Buy a Traeger BBQ Smoker for Dad

I know, I know. A Traeger electric BBQ smoker may sound like just another toy that will get tucked away in some forgotten corner of the garage – like that exercise machine Dad swore he’d use. A Traeger grill is different, though. My wife bought me one a couple of years ago and I still […]

10 Exciting Things to do in Alabama’s Gulf Shores with Kids

Okay, ladies. I have some brutal honesty that I need to share. We males need a little more excitement on family vacations. High tea at a swanky hotel? Not our thing. Character parades? They’re cute for a few minutes, but then it’s…meh. And don’t even get me started on shopping. We men desire something more. […]

How to Save Money on Flights with Next Vacay’s Travel Hacking Service

My family’s multi-state car trip last week was miserable. “A fun road trip!” we thought. That is, until our toddler son started to scream wildly as he launched anything he could get his hands on at me, the driver. This continued for most of the 11-hour journey. Flying would have saved us many long, stressful […]

5 Ways TrustedHousesitters Helps Pet Lovers Live Their Travel Dreams

My wife and I have reached a point in our lives where we aren’t happy with the status quo in suburbia. We have dreams of traveling the world, but those two weeks off from work each year don’t allow for much slow travel. We long to go somewhere and linger for two weeks or more to […]

7 Father’s Day Hotel Packages to Celebrate Different Types of Dads

Life changes for men when they become dads. It’s more than just sleepless nights and dirty diapers. When I entered fatherhood, I traded my convertible for an SUV, nights out with the boys ended, and my golf money dried up. Then I celebrated my first Father’s Day – at a lame brunch. That’s not what […]

How to Host a March Madness Beer Tasting Tournament

March Madness is that time of year when you get to slip on that old college sweatshirt, invite some friends over to watch the big game, and cheer on your alma mater. If your team has made it to the big dance, that is. You already have the food down – wings, chips and dip, […]

10 Tips for Visiting a Brewery with Kids

Should you visit a brewery with kids? As a beer enthusiast and dad, I answer that question with an emphatic, “Yes!” At the same time, I understand why children in breweries could annoy some patrons. But I believe we can all get along and enjoy a pint (or sippy cup) together. This is why I […]

Milwaukee Guys Weekend – A Destination for Manly Men

Guy getaways tend to follow the same broken record of trips – a bachelor party in Vegas, a golf trip somewhere, or a weekend of debauchery in Mexico. Put on repeat. Over and over again. Men, I’m here to tell you that there are better options than unsuccessfully trying to relive your youth in an […]

Tailgate Burger Bar ~ Turn Condiments from Ho-Hum to Touchdown!

My family’s fall weekends are filled with football. On Saturdays, we cheer on our alma mater, the Miami Hurricanes, and on Sundays, we yell at the TV for the hometown Carolina Panthers. But bland hamburgers and hot dogs are a bore. Interesting condiments are key to a tasty game day. Plain old ketchup and mayonnaise? Ho-hum. We spice […]
