Wild is one of those movies that stays with you for days and weeks after the credits have rolled, begging you to be present and appreciate what you have in your life today, because it might not be there tomorrow. It’s a story about travel and finding yourself during the journey. It’s about adventure, family, love, loss, friendship and forgiveness.

Wild Movie Lessons

If you are looking for a shoot em up, car chase infused Hollywood blockbuster, go see something else. Wild is for those of us who are searching for meaning in our lives.

The film brings to life the true story of a woman, Cheryl Strayed (played by Oscars-nominated Reese Witherspoon), who embarks on a hike of over 1,000 miles along the Pacific Crest Trail in search of herself after a divorce, the death of her mother, and a seemingly bottomless pit of self-destruction.

I expected a story of woman versus nature, which I found, but the movie made me confront my biggest fears, and showed me that confronting pain is far preferable to diving below it and expecting it to go away. Wild just may inspire you to take on something big, scary, and fulfilling in your own life. Wild is playing in select theaters nationwide. Click the video above to watch a scene from the movie. Get your copy of Wild in paperback or purchase the movie now.
