Enchantment Resort Sedona Review (for Families)

Located on one of the most spectacular spots of real estate in the world, the scenic landscape at Enchantment Resort in Sedona takes center stage. Whether your family is staying at this luxury hotel on the way to the Grand Canyon, or you’re visiting Sedona as a standalone vacation, here’s what you need to know before booking a stay at Enchantment Resort in Arizona.

An Enchanting Welcome

The minute my family arrived at Enchantment, we were welcomed to the resort and escorted to the front desk in the lobby. There was no ornate, grand entrance. Instead, natural elements like stonework, vibrant green vines, colorful flowers, and Cyprus trees led to an unobtrusive stucco building.

My children were greeted with a gift bag filled with a stuffed toy coyote and a coloring or puzzle book. You can warm up by the fire in oversized leather chairs in the lounge before dinner or duck into the game room to watch television or play board games.

Outdoor Adventures

Outdoor adventures abound at Sedona Enchantment Resort. Mountain biking, pickleball and tennis courts, swimming pools, and golfing at the nearby Seven Canyons private golf course. All of this is available among stunning views of Sedona’s famous red rocks.

Boynton Canyon Hiking Trails

One of my favorite memories from this family trip was hiking the Vista Trail with my little girl. We paused to stare at tiny wildflowers and note the strange purplish hue of the prickly pear cactus fruits. It was fun to guess where our room was from where we stood on the trail.

My 5-year-old daughter kept asking if we could take Sedona home with us. When I asked her what she meant, she said, “I want to keep it and put it in our backyard because it’s so pretty here!”

There are several hiking trails accessible from Enchantment Resort. Two of Sedona’s most beloved trails are located just behind Mii Amo Spa. Head to the left for Boynton Canyon Trail, which is 2.4 miles each way.

Go to the right to hike Vista Trail up to Kachina Woman rock formation, which stands guard over one of Sedona’s famous energy vortexes. This hike should take about 20 minutes up and 15 minutes down unless you are hiking with a young child, then it takes longer!

Camp Coyote

My daughter begged to go back to Camp Coyote after her half-day adventure here. This kids’ camp is for children ages 4 to 12. Choose from half-day or full-day camps plus summer evening camps. Camp Coyote specializes in incorporating the natural surroundings and Sedona’s Native American heritage into its activities.

Campers might take guided nature walks and learn about Boynton Canyon’s plants, insects, mule and white-tailed deer, jackrabbits, and other inhabitants. Or they might do sand painting, weave dream catchers, or design arrowhead necklaces. Standard kids’ camp fun is available, too, in the form of trucks, toys, and craft projects.

Mii Amo Spa

A sister property of Enchantment Resort Sedona, Mii Ama Spa is steps away. It is a destination spa with guest rooms of its own, spa treatments, and well-being and fitness classes. Enchantment guests are welcome to book spa services here as well.

Numerous activities and lectures abound at Mii Amo, from morning stretch and a variety of yoga classes to chanting, meditations, and labyrinth walks. The facilities are nearly as stunning as the setting.

After your treatment, take a dip in the indoor pool with its soothing fountains, or soak in the outdoor private pool and hot tub with breathtaking views of Boynton Canyon. You’ll feel overwhelmed with a feeling of gratitude to experience such beauty.

Enchantment Dining Options

Several great food options are available on-site at Sedona Enchantment Resort from casual to downright ritzy.

Che Ah Chi

One of the most upscale dining restaurants in all of Sedona is Enchantment’s Che Ah Chi. In addition to elegant date night dinners, breakfast and lunch are served here. Enjoy 180-degree views of Boynton Canyon any time of the day. Reservations are suggested.

Tii Gavo

A more casual restaurant on the property is Tii Gavo. It’s a more family-friendly option than elegant Che Ah Chi, but keeping our boisterous children from annoying the other diners in the candlelit swanky bar environment was not easy.

Hummingbird

Hummingbird at Mii Amo welcomes guests aged 16+ to dine in a spa-like atmosphere. Everything on the menu is fresh, light, and delicious.

Poolside Dining

Casual dining is available poolside from May through October at Enchantment. Eat salads, smoothies, and handheld fare beside the resort’s gorgeous outdoor pool. Order kid favorites from the children’s menu, like cheeseburgers, hot dogs, and cheese quesadillas.

The Market

The Market offers quick grab-and-go items like pressed juices, breakfast wraps, salads, sandwiches, and snacks. The homemade granola is not to be missed!

In-Room Dining

Room service is also available at Sedona Enchantment Resort from 6:30 am to 11 pm. Order breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert delivered to your room.

Enchantment Resort Accommodations

Guest rooms are designed for comfort at Enchantment. If you are traveling with children and can afford a glorious upgrade, I suggest booking a casita.

Our one-bedroom casita was decked out with a patio and outdoor barbecue plus my children’s favorite, a gas-powered fireplace around which we warmed our tootsies after chilly fall hikes.

The spacious family room was so large and comfy. It felt more like a home than a hotel. The Murphy bed was more restful than a sofa pull-out and took up no space when stowed away.

The eat-in kitchen featured a stove, microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator, pots, pans, dishes, eating utensils, and even a toaster. The bedroom featured two queen-sized beds and a second television plus its own bathroom.

Is Sedona Enchantment Resort Worth the Splurge?

My husband announced during our comfortable stay, “I never want to leave here.” I asked him why, and he said, “Because it’s beautiful, and there’s a fireplace, and even the soap smells good. Seriously, there are no worries here.” (The soap, by the way, was made with olive oil and it did smell really, really good.)

Although Sedona has more affordable accommodation options, I believe Enchantment Resort is worth a splurge. This popular spot is among the best luxury hotels in Sedona. Could you stay somewhere for less money? Yes.

But you come to Sedona to stand in awe of something bigger than yourself, to breathe in fresh air, climb to the top of something majestic, and forget your worries for a while. Staying at Enchantment submerses you in all that beauty and relaxation.
