1. The gift of language enhances travel experiences.

Do you know someone who is planning that dream trip to France, Spain, Japan, or some other incredible foreign destination? Understanding and speaking the language for travel makes a vacation so much easier. Even a few key phrases in the local dialect help!

Plus, it is the connections with locals that make a trip truly meaningful and memorable. Being able to carry on simple conversations in a foreign location adds so much depth to traveling.

2. A new language is the perfect present for the person who has everything.

We all have that person on our gift list who already has everything they need or want. Who really needs another sweater or necktie? Rather than filling up homes with unwanted clutter, giving the gift of language opens minds and improves lives.

3. A Rosetta Stone subscription is better for the environment.

With dire global warming predictions from scientists around the world, it’s important for everyone to take steps to decrease carbon emissions and reduce waste. Why buy yet another tchotchke that will one day wind up in a landfill?

A Rosetta Stone subscription enables users to learn a language online, via computer or smartphone. There’s no bulky packaging, no plastic waste, and no factory polluting the air.

4. Learning a new language keeps brains active and young.

Rosetta Stone makes a great gift option for retirees. We all need activities to bring meaning to life and keep us feeling active and young.

According to Alzheimers.net, “speaking two languages requires a specific type of brain training and switching between two languages requires a specific type of attention. That part of the brain, if exercised, may be what delays certain types of dementia.”

Now, that’s a good reason to give the gift of language to someone you love!

5. Add depth to heritage research.

DNA-based tests and ancestry research are more popular than ever. If you have friends or relatives who love learning about their heritage, then learning to speak their ancestors’ native tongue will make them feel even closer to their family’s past.

6. Support the love of a foreign tongue.

If you know someone who loves the lilt of the French language or who delights in the passion of Italian speech, then indulge their interest with the gift of learning that language. It can be lovely to listen to foreign words, even without understanding their meaning. Knowing what those mellifluous words mean, however, is way more satisfying!

7. Add another dimension to a beloved hobby.

Got a friend who loves to cook Italian cuisine? Imagine how exciting it would be to make dishes from a cookbook written entirely in Italian or to attend a cooking class in Italy.

Or do you know someone who can’t get enough Aikido? An understanding of the Japanese language would bring a deeper meaning to this martial art form.

Maybe you know someone who loves music from another country, like my daughter who is obsessed with KPop from Korea. What fun it would be to understand those foreign lyrics!

Know someone on the job hunt? Slowing job growth makes it difficult for recent graduates and workers of any age to land the job they want. Knowing a foreign language can differentiate a candidate and increase earning potential. Rosetta Stone just may be the key to climbing the corporate ladder.

  1. Having learned a new language was one of the best decisions I ever made. I wouldn’t be here where I am now if I didn’t learn German. I have heard of Rosetta Stone before and even considered using it when I was still learning German. I visited the site again, sadly, they don’t offer the Hungarian language which I am learning right now. 🙂 But it is really one of the best websites in learning a new language.
