What are essential oils?

Essential oils are gifts from the earth! They are pure and potent extracts from plants. Essential oils are plants’ natural defense mechanisms. They also work to support human cells and bodies.

Essential oils are concentrated, which makes them way more powerful than herbs. In fact they can be up to 50-70 times powerful.

Essential oils offer the body support in a variety of ways. You can use essential oils to get overall daily support or to support the body as needed for specific situations, like travel.

How do essential oils benefit travelers?

If you are looking for a natural method to support your health while traveling, then doTerra essential oils could be a great fit for you.

To support energy levels when you are out all day sightseeing, I suggest using Peppermint and Wild Orange. To alleviate the nausea caused by motion sickness or new exotic foods, try Ginger, Peppermint or a ZenGest blend.

Use Melaleuca and Lavender to provide relief from ear discomfort during flights. Additionally, the Protective Blend will boost your immune system against environmental threats. For a restful night’s sleep when dealing with Jet Lag, I love the Restful Blend.

Why use essential oils?

I got interested in essential oils because I wanted a more natural and chemical-free lifestyle for me and my family. Obviously it’s impossible to be completely chemical-free but reducing my family’s toxic load is a priority for me.

When I started using essential oils and saw the results, I became hooked. Two years after changing our nutrition and implementing essential oils, my family is healthier and happier.

My kids almost never ask me for medicine anymore. Instead, they will come to me and request the “tummy blend” or other essential oil. Be sure to discuss changes to your family’s medicines with your physician.

What is your favorite essential oil blend and why?

This is such a hard question! I love so many blends for various reasons. A whole line of emotional aromatherapy blends has been a huge blessing in our home. One of my favorites is the Seasonal Blend because when flowers are starting to bloom, my nose would be falling off without it due to allergies!

What else should we know about using essential oils for travel?

You should know that not all essential oils are created equal. When I first heard about using essential oils to support health and wellness, I headed to my local organic foods store and picked up a bottle of Lavender and Peppermint. I did not get great results from it, and they smelled a bit off.

Then I tried doTerra essential oils and I was blown away by the quality and actual results! I researched the company before deciding it was a good fit for our family. There are no standards and regulations set for essential oils from a governing body, so in order to get essential oils that are pure, potent, and free of synthetics or fillers — you need to make sure it’s a reputable company.

Buy essential oils for travel.

I received a few samples of doTerra essential oils from Hilarye for the purpose of this story. Since I was so impressed with the results, I have purchased additional doTerra products. Plus, I love the way they smell!

My favorite is Peace, a reassuring blend that helps me sleep better at night, particularly when I’m traveling. I also really like the ZenGest blend, which is great for tummy issues like acid reflux and nausea. I do not make any money from doTerra purchases. If you don’t know where to begin, then choose a sampler collection to give a few options a try. Whether for travel or at home, you can purchase essential oils via doTerra.
